Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our own initiative, "EmpowerHER: Inspiring Future Leaders, On and Off the Field," aimed at promoting gender equality and leadership development through football. This initiative is entirely created and subsidized by Northern Rivers Football, showcasing our commitment to our community.
Why EmpowerHER?
Historically, women and girls have been underrepresented in football, particularly in regional areas. This lack of representation not only limits opportunities for girls to participate in sports but also perpetuates gender stereotypes and inequalities. EmpowerHER seeks to address these challenges by offering inclusive and supportive football programs for girls and young women in our community.
What We Offer
Through the EmpowerHER initiative, we are excited to introduce a special Buy One, Get One Free deal for all female participants in our programs (excluding the High Performance Program). This means you can bring a friend for free or enjoy 2-for-1 savings on our football sessions. Our programs include:
Development Squads: Our Player Development Squads for U9-U12s are designed to enhance individual growth both on and off the pitch. We offer additional training for players eager to advance their football skills while encouraging them to continue enjoying the game with their local clubs. Our program focuses on building players' confidence in an inclusive environment, which positively impacts other areas of their lives.
Little Rivers Program: Our Little Rivers Program for U5s-U8s aims to develop individual players both on and off the pitch. It prepares them for the next stage of development, the NRFA Pre-Academy, while encouraging a love for football and teaching fundamental movements and skills. The program focuses on building players' confidence in an inclusive environment, positively impacting other aspects of their lives.
Holiday Clinics: Our Holiday Clinics are designed for boys and girls aged 7-16, offering an intensive training experience during school holidays. These clinics focus on different phases of the game to develop players' technical, tactical, physical, mental, and social skills. Through a concentrated block of training sessions, participants receive comprehensive development that prepares them for success on and off the pitch. Our clinics are an excellent opportunity for young players to enhance their skills, build confidence, and enjoy football in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Female Coach Development: Our Female Coach Development program is designed for young women aged 16-25, fostering leadership, positive female representation, and an inclusive football community. This initiative is an integral part of our commitment to empowering women in sports. Launching in 2025, the Northern Rivers Coaching Academy will provide aspiring coaches with the tools, training, and support they need to succeed. This academy will offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes:
Leadership Training: Equipping young women with the skills to take on leadership roles within their teams and communities.
Technical Coaching Skills: Providing in-depth training on the latest coaching techniques and methodologies.
Mentorship Opportunities: Pairing participants with experienced coaches who can offer guidance and support.
Inclusive Coaching Practices: Promoting strategies to create inclusive and supportive environments for all players.
